Do you reckon putting 'Harry Pearce' or 'Ruth Evershed' before the first line of the address would suffice?

Just put Spooks so that way they know directly who to send it to. Just trust me on this.

Re: Ruth's postcards to Harry - join in!

Oh I didn't think of that! Maybe I should add it in next time. I just put 'Harry Pearce/Ruth Evershed' section d, c/o kudos, etc, hoping someone will realise! Glad a few of us are sending cards too, should be good. As someone else once said, "I love it when a plan comes together." smile

Re: Ruth's postcards to Harry - join in!

Forgot to say that one of the cards I sent to 'Ruth' from 'Harry' was designed by someone called Amanda Firth! I didn't realise til I was putting it in the envelope, and read the small print on the  back. Thought it was a rather funny coincidence....

Re: Ruth's postcards to Harry - join in!

I was wanting to gag when I was looking for a card. I found one that wasn't too mushy thankfully and I added something to mine. I just hope I put enough postage on it as it cost a almost a $1.00 to send a postcard, letter, or card across the pond. Had to catch the mailman before he got back in his truck to drive off slipped on the ice but it was worth it. big_smile

Re: Ruth's postcards to Harry - join in!

That's great you are sending one from America smile Yes, I know, I hate overly sentimental and tacky cards. I managed to find a few simple ones. One was gently humorous. I'm only sorry I won't be able to see them getting delivered. I hope they all get there! Should make them smile at least.

I'm making one; far more personal, and I reckon that if (WHEN!!) they do send cards to each other, they'll be handmade ones smile

Too bad I don't live over in London or I'd be tempted to just drop it off at their door.

Spoilers for 8.1, 8.4, and 8.6

I read your post yesterday and then happened to watch 8.4 which seemed to have a big post card connection...

I do think Kudos received the post card message loud and clear and even sent a return message via episode 8.4 between 26:20 and 27:20.  A big shout out to the post card fans from Kudos can be found there if you think like a spy...perhaps.

Lucas (read Harry) invites Darshavin (read angryRuth) back to his home by post card!  (When looking at the plot of the ep. from the deep, dark, ironic side)

Lucas = Harry and Darshavin =  angryRuth??  Really?  Really.  (In my mind anyway)
MANIpulative Mani fashioned poor Ruth into a torture tool specifically designed to torment Harry when he murdered George.  That means Darshavin = angryRuth in this dark and ironic scenario.  Unfortunately Ruth couldn't shake off the consequences of this manipulation until the end of 8.6 when she ended Harry's "torture" by offering him a refreshing drink!

Some good news in the otherwise dark Series 8...Darshavin (read angryRuth) kidnapped Lucas' (read Harry's) lover (aka the part of Ruth that loves Harry) but, in the end, Darshavin (read angryRuth) sets the lover free unharmed.  So 8.4 foretells Ruth releasing her love for Harry and it finally happens in 8.6.  Even the dark side has a happy ending on Spooks.

Sorry to be so confusing but I was delighted about the post card shout out from Kudos in ep. 8.4!  Although it was couched in Spooks code.

Re: Ruth's postcards to Harry - join in!

Solatido- I find your posts about hidden references brilliant! I never noticed myself but I will look more closely now. I can't remember  which episode is 8.4 but will have a look. I am so looking forward to series 9 but autumn seems so far away right now. I wonder if filming has started yet? I have heard conflicting things, some reports saying it was due to begin in February, others just said 'spring 2010'.

You are an incredible Spooks fan!  I wish I had been a fan in early 2009 so I could've sent some post cards.  :-)

Italianissima, I'm pleased you liked it, thanks.  I'm looking forward to 9 too but since I am a recent fan, 5 months, I'm still having a lovely time getting to know Spooks 1-8.  And I haven't seen Series 6 yet.  I think I'll buy it this week, the Euro is down against the CHF!  :-)

Re: Ruth's postcards to Harry - join in!

Ah! Yes I discovered spooks about 4 years ago. I mean I had been aware it was on tv but I had always been busy with one thing or another to watch it when broadcast. I saw most of it on dvd. It was good going through a good few years worth  in a few weeks yes, so I know what you mean! Although when I got to the end I was wishing I hadn't got to the end as I had no more to watch for a while.  I'm still getting used to having wait a whole year in between seasons, not just reaching for the next dvd box set! smile

Yes, that's why I haven't been in such a hurry to purchase and watch Series 6 because then "Christmas" will be over.

Re: Ruth's postcards to Harry - join in!

ah yes smile I tried my best to eke them out and only watch a few at a time to make them last as long as possible but then I just couldn't wait to see what happened so went through them all very quickly!
But you mention watching season 8 so it must be a bit confusing not having seen 6 yet? Or not?

You'd think so but "You Know You're Addicted To Spooks" (another great thread here) when you read recaps by a Spooks fan on Live Journal (with hilariously funny comments from her too) if the dvd isn't available to you.

I understand that Ruth's postcards to Harry are still pinned up in the Kudos offices, and are still much appreciated.

Oh I wasn't implying you should keep sending cards (although I'm not saying you shouldn't tongue ), just that all the effort that went into the campaign is still appreciated. smile

Really cause I was told by someone in Kudos last April or May they weren't there anymore on the wall. hmm  I think I might still have the email from the person. Well one way to find out and that is to call them again.
