Perhaps it's time for a break?

It seems that Hustle is rather running out of ideas - and also having difficulty attracting guest stars. Week one was someone who didn't make the cut at torchwood, last week we had that annoying banker from the NW adverts, this week the not-very funny one from the fast show.

This was curious in that the 'writer' appears to be a Jonathan Creek tribute act, here combining the unsympathetic Simon Day character (from House of monkeys) with the vanishing sculpture trick(from the omega man).

Add in the not-Russian mafiosi as a poorly disguised plot device and cook for 5 minutes....

The previous two plots were also barely original, both being similar to the plot lines of earlier episodes like 3.6

Re: Perhaps it's time for a break?

I am finding this series a struggle I have to say. It is not the cast as I like the current set up without Murray and Warren). I just think they need to have 18 month break to come up with some great cons.

Re: Perhaps it's time for a break?

I think it's lost some of its freshness... not an uncommon complaint for a lot of shows.
I agree that a "resting" period would be good.

Re: Perhaps it's time for a break?

Of course, I'm now going to modify that by saying that last week's episode and this week's finale were most entertaining.

But I've no idea where the show can actually go from here...

Re: Perhaps it's time for a break?

Well, it has to be said that:

nothing wrong with Marc Warren, but Lester is better.
however IMO Kelly is far better than Jaime Murray
It would be nice to see them take a chance by adding another female character: maybe they could even not be white? Maybe Ayesha Dharker or Naoko Mori? Both have form with Kudos.
Obviously Parminder Nagra is out of their budget range....
